🥹 WOW you guys are amazing - Negrita says thank you 🐾
Published about 1 month ago • 7 min read
Hi friends!
WOW the outpour of love for Negrita was just so beautiful. From both me and Negrita, a HUGE thank you. If you missed our last email about this gentle giant, you can find it at the bottom of this email along with Negrita's story. She is my current YES I am saying Yes to.
Negrita says Thank You to the big, generous hearts that donated this week to get her some food and nutrients for her painful hips.
We were able to buy her a 15 kilo bag of food, new bowls and salmon oil. Next step is getting her some supplements to help her aging hips even more and prep for next months food supply so this gentle giant can get the care she deserves. All the help is super appreciated, especially by her. So many people close their eyes on this heartbreaking situations. I refuse to do so!
In the last month, we helped a dog that was hit on the highway, broke up a pack of dogs attacking another little one and have started to try to help another dog we found yesterday completely malnourrished and left to himself in the streets.
We are currently building her a security fund so we can keep offering Negrita this care and support each month. Donations are still flowing in which is so so amazing. You can still send in donations if you desire, or do some in the months to come. I will keep sharing updates.
I am so grateful for each and every one of you on this email list.
Your support, your love, your willingness to show up for yourself and others leaves me in awe.
I'd love to know, what you are saying Yes to these days? Hit reply and let me know. I read all my emails.
Lots of love xo

→ Negrita Update… In case you'd like to help
If you haven't met Negrita yet, you can read her story here:https://jenniferjaneyoung.com/sos-negrita and feel free to re-share.As I shared in my last post, Negrita is a gentle street dog who was abandoned on our street years ago. Since then, our neighbours have cared for her as a community. One neighbour kept food and water bowls outside his home, and every day different people would add food so she would always have something to eat.Recently, those bowls disappeared. I'm not sure what happened, but the result is that Negrita no longer has a reliable place to find food or fresh water each day.So we're changing that.I'll be buying new bowls and setting them up outside our home so she always knows where she can come for food, water, and a little bit of kindness.I also want to start feeding her proper dog food every month. Right now she survives mostly on leftovers, and while people mean well, many of those foods aren't healthy for dogs.Negrita also has severe hip problems and walks in obvious pain. One of my next goals is to get her a quality joint supplement to help make her days a little more comfortable. If I could, I would adopt this gentle giant in a heartbeat. But with our growing family, our rescue dog Cash, and our move back to Canada next year, that just isn't possible. Instead, I've made a different commitment: to give her the best life I can for as long as she's here - and hopefully one day find her the right home.Day by day, she's beginning to trust us more. She now comes into our carport every day to rest in the shade. It's become a safe place where she can finally relax instead of always being on alert in the streets. Sometimes she'll even wander a few steps into the house before lying down with a big sigh. Watching her nervous system slowly settle has been one of the greatest gifts.Helping an animal isn't always convenient. But animals like Negrita don't get to choose the circumstances they've been given. They simply hope someone will choose them. She deserves to know what it feels like to be safe, cared for, and loved. As long as she's here, I want her to experience that. There are still many things I'd love to do for her—take her to the veterinarian, deworm her, keep her protected from parasites, and continue improving her quality of life. But right now my priority is making sure she has food, clean water, and a safe place to rest each day, especially since there have been people in the area who have tried to hurt her.If Negrita's story touches your heart and you'd like to help with her food, supplements, or veterinary care, any amount—big or small—will make a real difference.
Thank you for helping me remind this beautiful girl that the world still has kind people in it.All funds will be used for this month's food and care or saved for next month's food and care.
Hi Reader,
Today's email is one about helping someone else. This beautiful Gentle Giant called Negrita.
As I shared in my last post, Negrita is a gentle street dog who was abandoned on our street in Mixquiahuala, Mexico years ago. Since then, our neighbours have cared for her as a community. One neighbour kept food and water bowls outside his home, and every day different people would add food so she would always have something to eat.
Recently, those bowls disappeared. I'm not sure what happened, but the result is that Negrita no longer has a reliable place to find food or fresh water each day. She just woke up one day to find her safe space to eat and drink was gone. Imagine how lost and confused she must have felt.
So we're changing that. I'll be buying new bowls and setting them up outside our home so she always knows where she can come for food, water, and a little bit of kindness.
I also want to start feeding her proper dog food every month. Right now she survives mostly on leftovers, and while people mean well, many of those foods aren't healthy or safe for dogs.
Negrita also has severe hip problems and walks in obvious pain. We recently bought her a cozy outdoor hammock bed to make her more comfortable which she adores! One of my next goals is to get her a quality joint supplement to help make her days a little more comfortable.
If I could, I would adopt this gentle giant in a heartbeat. I love her so much. But with our growing family, our new rescue dog Cash, and our move back to Canada next year, that just isn't possible.
Instead, I've made a different commitment: to give her the best life I can for as long as she's here - and hopefully one day find her the right home. Day by day, she's beginning to trust us more. She now comes into our carport every day to rest in the shade. She sits at the door and cries to come in, and once that door opens, she just melts into the floor with joy. It's become a safe place where she can finally relax instead of always being on alert in the streets. Sometimes she'll even wander a few steps into the house before lying down with a big sigh. Watching her nervous system slowly settle has been one of the greatest gifts.
Helping an animal isn't always convenient.
But animals like Negrita don't get to choose the circumstances they've been given. When she arrived on our street, she was so skinny and weak that she couldn't even stand up. These angels simply hope someone will choose them. She deserves to know what it feels like to be safe, cared for, and loved. As long as she's here, I want her to experience that. I highly recommend reading her story either on Facebook or Instagram.
Taking care of Negrita is a big Yes I am saying YES to these days but it's not easy because I have a newborn in my arms 24/7 now, we are managing 2 immigrations processes in 2 different countries which costs more than I could have ever imagined and we are getting ready for a move back to Canada which will cost around $10 000.
There are still many things I'd love to do for her—take her to the veterinarian, deworm her, keep her protected from parasites, and continue improving her quality of life. But right now my priority is making sure she has food, clean water, and a safe place to rest each day, especially since there have been people in the area who have tried to hurt her. I know there are so many animal lovers in this community so if Negrita's story touches your heart and you'd like to help with her food, supplements, or veterinary care, any amount—big or small—will make a real difference.
Thank you for helping me remind this beautiful girl that the world still has kind people in it.
All funds will be used for this month's food and care or saved for next month's food and care.
I will continue to help animals in need no matter how inconvenient it is. Thank you in advance for helping me Say Yes to my YES for this gentle giant.
Lots of love xo
Jenn

Happy hump day dear friends, And happy beginning of autumn 🍂 This is by far, my favourite time of year and although we do get a change in temperature here in Hidalgo, Mexico - it's feeling crisper - we don't get the change of colours. I will deeply miss watching the leaves change to vibrant reds, oranges and yellows and then fall to the ground, reminding us to let go and shed anything that is no longer serving us. If you do get to experience this, please take a few steps in the crunchy autumn...
